ThunderDome Philosophy

CrossFit ThunderDome is a 4,000 sq/ft. fitness coaching facility equipped a quality coaching staff and a friendly and supportive group of athletes and staff. We offer group and individual coaching, utilizing the CrossFit methodology. CrossFit workouts are comprised of constantly varied functional movements (like pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting, running) executed at high intensity.

What We Do

So what does that really mean? It means that at CrossFit ThunderDome you will not find rows of stationary bikes and weight machines. Instead you will find pull-up bars, kettlebells, barbells and wide open space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing – moving your body the way it is meant to be moved. It means that all your workouts will be comprised of exercises that mimic movements performed in day-to-day life or sport. You would never bicep curl your child to pick them up, so why would you do it in the gym? We focus on improving functional movements that are necessary and common in your daily activities. It also means that you will never get bored. With our constantly varied programming you will rarely do the same workout twice in any given year. You will never have to program your own workouts or spend hours in the gym. Instead, each day a workout will be provided for you that are scalable to suit your fitness level. And because our workouts are rarely longer than 40 minutes they can fit into even the busiest schedules. Our fitness programming aims to improve your capacity in ten recognized fitness domains cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The result is comprehensive physical fitness and restored vitality.

    So what does ThunderDome mean?

    The ThunderDome originated in ancient Rome during the era of the Gladiators. The arenas where gladiatorial battles were fought were referred to as a thunder dome due to its roaring and rumbling from its spectators. As we know from history, these gladiatorial battles resulted in the death of one opponent. While we all face daily battles in many facets of life, the battle we focus on here at CrossFit ThunderDome is the battle between the healthy you and the not so healthy you. As with the arenas in the past, the gladiators were sponsored. Sponsors offered up money to benefit their favored gladiator to assist in their victory. Our coaching staff are the modern day “sponsors” of each and every ThunderDome athlete. We will provide you with all of the necessary tools for you to succeed in the battle against yourself. The tools that you will need to continue your quest of becoming fit, healthy, stronger, faster, and to help regain or improve your vitality. We are your modern day ThunderDome.
